Boone family of Wolborough, Newton Abbot
« on: Saturday 08 March 25 11:31 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

My 2nd cousin 6xremoved married Richard Boone (1742 -1790) at Bishopsteignton in 1765.

Richard Boone's gt-grandfather was Capt. Roger Boone (1655 - 1722) of Wolborough, Newton Abbot.

The Boone family of Wolborough had strong Army connections.

There are a lot of muddled family trees (mainly American) associated with them. They seem to be trying to claim the American Frontiersman, Daniel Boone, as their ancestor.

Presumably there was some sort of large family estate at Wolborough.

Does anyone have any information about that, please?

Thanks,

Gordon

A Roger BOONE's will was recorded in 1723. He was described as a 'worsted comber' of Wolborough, Devon. Unfortunately, most Devon wills were destroyed in WWII.
