I’m left wondering where the area called Cauld Knuckle was. I have found online a  picture of Cauld Knuckle school but not where that was. Maybe all the people who were familiar with the use of the name for an area of Ryhope have died.

I think spelk was referring to Cauld Knuckles at Ryhope

Thanks JenB and ScOOp. This screenshot show what must have been Cauld Knuckle between the Toll Bar Inn and the school. Main two Streets a century ago were Cory street and Nicholson street.
I think on my visits to Ryhope I've never been to that side of "the tracks" ie north of where the pit was.
Something odd - can't add mage using this laptop. I'll try with Desktop

Things do not seem to be working like I remember. Even using desktop and changing from Safari to Oracle. I click on "Attachments and other options" but do not get the box to add an image from the computer.

I went and looked at the instructions for adding images and found that there I could add and image as you can see here https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=370538.new#new

But why I can not do it here I do not know.

Since Apple have added an AI assistant to "help" me the autocorrect spelling has been really messing things up. Wish I could have refused to accept its help.

Myself I have never seen the point of the "Lookup Boards". Means for topics on any county we have to look in two separate places. And how many responses to someone's problem do not include some sort of "Look Up" - even recalling a fact is a lookup from ones memory.
