Exactly, I am phoneless !
All set up yesterday ,worked,so phoned my son ,however not working today!
Youngest son at Head Office so used my basic little mobile to phone EE as it now - no engineer available until Saturday evening!
Won’t be much credit on the mobile, , but no idea how much
.Son will most probably keep phoning just to check .
Hope he phones his brother or else he will think I am ill again.

More lovely pictures of Lily ,really making communicating noises in response to being spoken to.
Getting on for five months now ,alert and very contented.

Things are certainly escalating re Ukraine and Russia, European countries getting more involved , very frightening.

What a lovely day, got  all son’s bed stripped ,mattress cover and pillow protectors washed too.Duvet blowing in a fresh breeze .
Will vac mattress and remake bed tomorrow, however  he can do the duvet cover himself , King size and it really frustrates me !
I end up almost inside it!

Well Pointless now so a rest before my tea.
Cheerio. Thanks for the info re alarm necklaces and bracelets.

Viktoria.

Morning all
For those who have heard of our saga for BT to move us to digital voice and full fibre, another man came yesterday and has finally joined us up. We appear to have broadband and a phone that works. Texts from BT say that it will take 3 days till they get the best connection to reach full speed.
Glad it’s done.

Oh dear - not sure these things are really "progress" as we understand it! I managed for donkey's year with a dear old round dial 'phone. When "they" went over to sockets and plug in, a telephone engineer I knew updated that 'phone to use with the the new ones I'd had to buy, with their base  unit. All worked well, for he completely replaced the innards of my old 'phone, and the bell would still awake the dead, when it went off ( very needful at the time, for we had an assortment of aged rellies who would ring in a panic in the middle of the night,- if they were awake, then we wouldn't mind being woken, the fact that we both had demanding jobs didn't matter...- and demand instant help). I will miss that old phone, it must be nearly 60 years old.... never failed - AND would work in power cuts!!

Well, I was left without phone or broadband - worked at first but then
nothing .
No engineer available until Monday ,son came this morning and sorted it ,O.K. now. But will not cancel the engineer, it will be properly checked over.
Other son at Head Office.
Baby Lily’s mummy phoned, baby has been in Hispital, some respiratory problems, but both mum and dad have had flu symptoms and at Baby Welfare last week ,there were a couple of “ chesty “ bsbies, perhaps ought not to have been there.!
Seems better now, and doing well.

My friend in Wales, is 91 tomorrow ,we havre been friends for many years ,they were waiting at Ringway ( Manchester) Airport to see us off when we left England to live in Belgium , it was so kind and I have never forgotten that.
Card sent but I will phone.
She lost her eldest son very suddenly last year. She was unable to attend his funeral ,in Cumbria, well 90years old- and her Daughter in Law did not see fit to send an Order of Service ,or give details or ask was there a prayer or hymn she would like to be included ——-
She is very down to earth, but still.

Tesco order comes tomorrow , lunchtime , I order big sizes in things like washing powder.
Bought a new hairbrush , lost my good one ?
Got a good quality one as my hair is not in good state .l lost one some time ago I think at my daughter’s ,have been using a spare ,but my hair has suffered probably medications too.

Well off to bed ,and my difficult book.
Goodnight folks,, look after yourselves ,thanks f or the news and your frequent kind wishes.
Viktoria.

Glad to hear your son has sorted phone and broadband out Viktoria… what would we do without it these days… easy quick communication so vital..
Currently in tenter hooks as my son and wife live in south east of Brisbane and have spent the last 4 days preparing the house and their 4 acres ready for cyclone Alfred… had quick FaceTime with him this morning and have been keeping close eye on all updates…
no contact now as the power is out in the whole region… he said they’d be ok if they didn’t get more than 800mm of rain.. otherwise it could get into the house..
Have to say I’m worried about all the large trees they have round them as it’s a conservation area..
Will just have to wait for them to let us know how they are… could be days.. such a worry.

With that thought I shall try and get some sleep and hope for the best.

Take care and good night

Oh I hope all goes well for your family Caw, a great worry.

Hasn’t the weather,well climate generally , changed!
No proper clear cut seasons anymore.

I must admitI was very worried last night without my landline , mobile had not got much credit either ,I barely use it .
Git it topped up this morning at Tesco.
Eldest son took me shopping and big Tesco order tomorrow lunchtime.
Took some much loved junk to thr Charity shop.
Real Victorian brass paraffin lamps which were right in my Victorian house prior to this one . Some new slippers sent wrong colour then wrong size from a little catalogue I shop from , said not to return but donate to charity ,so Age UK have them now .
A pair of natural leather coloured suede wrinkled ankle boots that I have never worn ,Clsrke’s ,cost a bomb too!
Books and some crockery and vases.
All to Age UK.

Well off to bed, hope those with family worries have a restful night, when you are so far away it is very hard , nothing you can do ,it doesn’t solve anything to be sleepless but we can’t settle can we with those worries.

Goodnight folks .
Viktoria.

CawL
My friend is currently  on holiday staying with friends in Brisbane, they returned early from Harvey Bay because cyclone Alfred would have made their journey home almost impassable due to a swollen river, must say she is  extremely annoyed as it has changed their plans completely,  they should fly home on Tuesday,  there is nothing that can be done about these things, she said shops are shut because people were panic buying  and no restaurants  open, I went on holiday to New Zealand after they had an earthquake, the devastation  in Christchurch in particular was unbelievable but I think people in these countries just pick themselves up after and carry on  sadly they can't do much about it.
It is a worry for the locals and unfortunately there's not much we can do for them, just hope and pray it passes, which it will.

Viktoria, the local charity shop must have been very pleased with the goods you donated,  I keep promising myself to have a really good  clear out and my husband, we have far to many clothes that we haven't worn for years,  in my case they won't fit, same as my husband but he has gone the other way and lost inches.

Keep safe everyone

Well todays another day and despite all the scary scenarios that could have played out it hasn’t, so far been too bad for them.. down graded to tropical storm..
Power went out on Friday night ( their time) and looks like it’ll be some time before it’s fixed.. they’re safe, couple small trees down and quite a lot of water swilling around..
Their three cats are fast asleep unperturbed!
Thankfully he was able to find some internet coverage when he went out so at least able to reassure family they’re ok!
I feel for those who’ve gone out on holiday and are now stuck until they can fly out..

LM - we visited Christchuch just prior to the earthquake and our sons company was involved in tendering for the reconstruction, he said it was heart breaking to visit the city just after it happened.
