It appears that his army records (other than medal roll and index card) have not survived.

A man of that name married Norah White in Oughtibridge in 1906. His father Alfred Dronfield Gregory. Millie(?) Dronfield Gregory was one of the witnesses.

Matthew Gregery 39  Head. Furnace Labourer.
Ann Gregery   48 Wife   (passed away 1924 - Wortley - 9c 447)
Sarah Gregery   15 Son
Matthew Gregery   13 Son
Milly Gregery   10 Daughter
George Gregery   8 Son

couple of ancestry trees give the parents as Matthew Gregory and Ann Swift.

The Number Quoted was his later Machine Gun Corps Number

His Three Medals were issued and inscribed 18722 Yorkshire & Lancs Regt

We don't know when he left the Army alot of Machine Gun Corps went to India straight after the Armistice so his Records weren't sent to Arnside Street Repository 1920 so not Destroyed if he left later in the mid 1920s

Sandra. Many thanks for death date for Ann Gregory, had not got that. Will check the 1921 census to try to pick her up? Regards all.

I think George was born as Dronfield not Gregory
See Probate
It looks like George married again in Mid 1920 the Certificate may give clue if he had left the Army
