I have an Archibald Hamilton (wife Mary) who seems to have been a shipowner trading between Scotland and Ireland who was executed in Stirling in 1651 apparently for betraying Lord Eglinton (6th Earl of Eglinton Alexander Montgomerie).
His wife appealed to parliament as she was poverty stricken so I have a lot of information on the family from this source.
https://www.british-history.ac.uk/commons-jrnl/vol7/pp175-177Would there be a source that covers executions in this period? And looking information on any children that might have been born in Scotland (but it is also possible he had children in Ireland when trading with Derry city). I am also interested in finding his Scottish origins - one of his sons settled in Coleraine and called his estate Millburn (which may or may not be a clue).
