Do you have a speaker symbol showing on the taskbar at all?
[Mine is next to battery condition, and showing with an x]
x signifying sound off!

It's on.

You might need to change where the sound comes out of, the previous owner may have had it connected via HDMI to TV or monitor etc.
Right click the speaker symbol on the bottom tool bar.
Select 'Sound settings'
Where it says Output choose where to play sound - Click the button that is the laptop name.
Slide the volume bar up to 100.

See if that works. Good luck.

thanks for your patience everyone. I have checked everything I can see but still no luck. I am now wondering if it may be the driver but am not confident enough to try sorting that out myself.
It`s taken me ages just to get the thing set up  ;D

Well I went for it, uninstalled and downloaded Realtek again. according to my laptop everything is working properly. But still no sound. Is there some little thing I am missing, some key I don`t know about, it`s so annoying  :(

See if you can find the original specifications/instructions for your exact model of laptop online. My elderly HP laptop had a diagram showing all the various sockets round the edges (that I don't use) and all the keyboard combinations that substitute for the missing function buttons. It also has a pair of very useful buttons with tiny lights on them at the top  of the keyboard -Wifi on/off and sound on/off. Yours might have something similar?

As far as I can see Wilcoxon has not yet tried plugging in some wired earpieces. If a wire has dropped off the internal speakers then external speakers or headphones will probably still work. Wired earpieces  are given away with practically every phone or similar gadget so Wilcoxon must have some in some draw or such. I've got probably half a dozen I've never used.
Apart from playing back music etc are there no alert beeps or such?

Wilcoxon said the Windows 10 was installed in January.

This previous thread mentions that someone lost their sound after a Windows update. Cured by changing from some Realtec driver to some generic Windows one i think.

Thanks . Every thing sound related is shown as working properly.

After a lot of fiddling and far**ng around I have sound, but only through headphones.
I tried the instructions below but there is no option to change output. It's set up for external speakers.
Its only showing that  one option. I tried disabling it and that didn't work.

Type and search [Sound settings] in the Windows search bar①, and then click [Open]②. In Sound settings, you are able to choose the Output device③ (such as internal speakers, external speakers, or headset) and the Input device④ (such as internal microphone, external microphone, or earphone).

When you were checking the settings did you have the headphones plugged into the laptop. When they are plugged in the option for internal speakers will be disabled automatically.
Or maybe your laptop does not have internal speakers but that would be very odd.
