I have managed to order his death certificate. I know from the letters we had that in 1946 he was on HMS Creole in Portsmouth and that he was a PO HSD (I think the HSD is something thing to do with submarines?

HMS Creole was a destroyer. PO HSD is Petty Officer Higher Submarine Detector.  A destroyer was used to detect and destroy submarines.

If you are interested, the website Deceased Online has records for your William Stanley LLoyd.
https://www.deceasedonline.com/
You do need to register to get an account and then the images do cost. Images available are
Full Register Details £2.20
Cremation Register Scan £2.20.
It is a long time since I have used this service but it is well worth paying for it. Off the top of my head I believe the details are slightly different on each image but I am not 100% sure.

The is a marriage to Annie E PENNY in Weymouth in 1939. The birth of Stanley V A Lloyd mmn PENNY in q1 of 1940 also in Weymouth.
The naval base was actually at Portland rather than Weymouth. Also on Portland was the Admiralty Underwater Research Establishment which dealt with anti-submarine warfare and he may have been connected to that.

Just wow!! You guys are amazing! So I’ve managed to get into deceased online and now have details of his cremation and know his final resting place, this is massive thank you!

And the details of Weymouth line up as I’ve also been researching there and it made sense with his rank! Where did you find the info on his marriage to Penny?

On the ‘tree’ associated with the dna match it shows a marriage/partnership with a ‘Nancy’ but no other details and I’ve been trying to find marriage details but haven’t had much luck but again I recognise that I’m a rookie at this 🤣 where as you guys are complete pros!

Massive respect and gratitude to you all!

I,m using FindMyPast.
Stanley Victor Arthur LLOYD died age 7 weeks and was buried in Abbotsbury road cemetery on 1Jan 1941. Can’t find anything for Annie. Looks like no more children were born to them and they may have had a forced marriage and split up after the child died.
Added = and I use Freebmd when looking for possible children to a couple.

I looked at the photo you mentioned of William Stanley Lloyd on the Ancestry tree.  The name on his cap appears to be HMS Ganges.  Google tells me that HMS Ganges was a training establishment, lots of info online.

I was looking at some photos on HMS Ganges Museum and spotted this one from 1935. 3rd row, 4th from left - Lloyd.  Could this be him?  If it is him he would have been 17 at the time.
