Trying to find my grandmother
« on: Thursday 20 February 25 12:45 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I am not that experienced with researching my Irish roots and would appreciate any help. My main issue is finding the correct grandmother! Her name was Ellen Connolly (perhaps Ellen L Connolly) and she was born in 1880. A couple of family trees I have located on Ancestry say she was born in Monaghan, but I have not been able to confirm this. My mother told me she was born on 12 March 1880, but I have not been able to find any Ellen Connolly born on that date in Monaghan on irishgenealogy.ie. She moved to London, and her birthdate is confirmed on various censuses, and she died in 1955. She had seven children but never married, using her partner John Tavener's surname.
This may be mission impossible, but any tips or clues would be greatly appreciated.

The surname is frequently misspelt, but correct spelling is Tavener

Do you have Ellen in 1911 and 1921? Does she just give Ireland as birthplace there?
