William & Thomas Eastwood Croydon

Trying to narrow down a William Eastwood & Thomas Eastwood to the family they descend from. William was born 08/05/1908. His dad was Thomas & he married a Burden I believe. Thomas died in 1930 or before as on William’s marriage certificate it says deceased hawker. William was a hawker as well.

There are only 3 William Eastwood births on freebmd in that timescale - none in Croydon.  Where did you get his birthdate & birthplace from?

There are several births in 1909 but not in Croydon

Have you found him on the 1911 or 1921 census?  Although he married in Croydon - he could have been born elsewhere?

If you check the 1939 register his birthyear is a year earlier than that shown on his death reg

On the marriage record to Annie Burden the marriage record is registered in Croydon & says he is born in 1908. But on the 1939 census record it says he is born in 1913. I think the way forward with this could be at the moment a dna test to narrow down the correct Eastwood line. The Burden line we have though as we both know cousins descending from the family

There is no birthyear on the marriage cert.  He married 1930 & declared his age as 22 hence the 1908

On his death reg - his birthdate is given as 8.5.1908 but the 1939 entry is 1907 & he is living in Surrey

What entry are you looking at with a 1913 birthyear?

Apologies yes the 1913 was a hint I discarded. On findmypast it shows birth years on the parish marriage record

The transcript on FindMyPast is only suggesting the year working from the age given on the marriage certificate
