Henry Taylor born 1834 Whaplode
« on: Tuesday 18 February 25 14:27 GMT (UK) »
Good afternoon

I'm currently researching the siblings of my great grandfather Joseph Taylor. I recently discovered that he had 4 extra siblings that I was unaware of.

The one I'm struggling with is Henry Taylor. He is the 3rd son of Tuckney and Rebecca Taylor (nee Watson) and is born I believe in Whaplode around 1834. He is baptised in Whaplode in July 1834. He is resident with his parents and siblings in Whaplode in both 1841 and 1851.

However this is where I'm struggling. I've found a tree which has an number of interesting entries that I cannot seem to confirm.

This tree has Henry marrying Anne Taylor in Holbeach in 1855. No documental evidence. A search on FindMyPast brings up a record of a Henry Taylor marrying either Sarah Ann Barker or Mary Kitchen. I cannot find a parish register to see who the father is to confirm whether this is the right Henry. There is no marriage to an Anne Taylor.

There is then a birth of a daughter Sarah on this tree but in New York, USA in 1858. There's an entry to a residence in  New York in 1865 but no documentation to support this.

There then follows a marriage in Manchester in Oct 1866 to an Eliza Annie Taylor and a birth of a son Thomas also in Manchester.

An arrival in Brooklyn (no documentation) in 1869.

There's also further Census returns (US) attached.

However I'm not even sure that all of these Henry's are the same person as there seems to much guessing with no evidence to back things up.

I cannot seem to find any documented evidence of Henry in the UK after 1851. I do  not have worldwide Ancestry access so cannot access those records on the tree to verify them.

Any help would be much appreciated. I'm slowly trawling through FamilySearch to see if I can find anything on there but its that common name of Taylor again proving tricky.

So unless he lied about his age its unlikely this is him, as my Henry would have only been 21 in 1855. I believe 21 was the legal age in those days so he wouldnt have needed consent so no reason to lie

The marriage in 1866 to Eliza gives his age as 23 and father as Charles Taylor, so not the same person.

A lot of trees have his death as 18th October 1904 Kings, New York, USA, but it might be the above Henry.

Yes that rules that one out as well. There just seemed too many things that didn't match up when I started digging deeper. I don't like to copy from others trees unless I've checked all the details and have documents to back up those facts.

So I wonder what happens to him after 1851 then?
