1700s North Stoke look up request
« on: Friday 14 February 25 23:09 GMT (UK) »
What I know:
William Allnatt/Allnutt and his wife, Elizabeth Smith, lived in North Stoke, Oxfordshire. They had two daughters, Martha and Elizabeth. William was buried in 1784, and Mary in 1795, in St Mary's, North Stoke.

What I would like to find:
William's baptism about 1735, and Elizabeth's about 1736.
Their marriage, possibly around 1762.
Martha and Elizabeth's baptisms (about 1763), and any other children.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

The parish registers on ancestry stop at 1760 then continue at 1766 the pages for 1761-1765 are missing perhaps missed in filming.

Contact Oxfordshire archives or the Oxfordshire Family History Society they may be able to help.

Hi
I've been through the volume 1740-1800 for North Stoke (1760-1766 is missing and no marriages till 1812)
William buried 26.1.1767 William buried 25.10.1784
Elizabeth buried 3.3.1741/2
James s of John and Mary buried 3.11.1768
Mary wife of John buried 20.3.1772 and another wife Mary 8.1.1778
William s of Mary bapt 4.8.2782 buried 30.9.1782
Elizabeth widow buried 16.8.1795
Sarah d of Charles and Martha buried 7.4.1798.

The previous registers apparently went missing 1718-1740 so it's going to be a struggle.
Sorry
You could try Edward Alnuts PCC Will 1714 and the court case that went on with his executor Richard in 1725 available at the Nat Archives.

Thank you for all your replies.

I am looking for William's parents.

There is a suggestion (maybe from his 1784 Will?) that William had two brothers, Edward and John Allnatt.

John's burial aged 79 in 1814 in North Stoke (Wallingford) says that he had a father, Edward, that died in 1758. If John is really William's brother, then Edward (? - 1758) is William's father too. It would not be surprising either that their brother was named Edward, although I can't find any information on him.

Edward Allnatt's Will, 11 Oct 1758, might confirm his wife and children's names. If it does not show that William is Edward's son, then another suggestion (geneanet) is that Richard Allnatt could be William's father.

It is also suggested that Sarah Pearcy/Piercy (born 1700, Nettlebed, Oxfordshire) is William's mother, so there may be a marriage in Nettlebed between Sarah and either Edward or Richard Allnatt.

The will 1784 of William Allnatt.  There is no mention of a brother Edward or John

John Allnatt is his nephew, stated when he and Joseph Clarke applied for Probate.

This would indicate he had one brother somewhere. No relationship given for Joseph Clarke.

John Allnatt from newspaper articles is a solicitor/Attorney of Wallingford.

He had purchased two cottages from Edward Button that he then sold to Joseph Clarke and John Allnatt in trust to provide for his wife Elizabeth, and daughters Elizabeth and Martha, from rents.
---------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------
The will of John Allnatt 1814 of Wallingford, he had 4 children, John, Charles, Jane and Mary Matilda
based on the wording, John had one mother, he is to get the property left to him by his late wife who inherited it from her mother. The other three children are from his 2nd wife.
He does not mention his father.

There are two codicils the first mentions his sisters Sarah Pickman and Mary Tuckwell and two servants.(20 February 1813)
The second mentions the four children of daughter Jane who has died they are to get her share, not their father John Hodges. (11 June 1813)
-----------------------------

The will of Edward 1758 Maltster of Wallingford, requests to be buried in North Stoke.
Wife Sarah.
Children (6) John, Sarah, Hester, Elizabeth, Anne and Mary. -Share and share alike.

Executors are brother John Allnatt and Matthew Todd of Woodhouse.
