I found Cousin John Crawford in Yonkers in 1910, widower, age 54, with Maggie Telford, widow,age 64, born Scotland and her daughter Jenny age 23 born England. Maggie must be nee Johnston. This senses says John born England, but I doubt it. He has been in New York since 1872.

Parents of Alexander Nesbitt Telford were William Telford and Jane Patterson, that is probably where
the sister of William Johnston got her middle name Patterson - Jane Patterson Johnston born 12 October 1869 Chirnside Berwick. Parents of both William and Jane Patterson Johnston were George Johnstone and Jane Telford.

That left John Crawford with the family in 1925, he was a cousin.  Aged 74 years.  So born about 1851.
Noted that he either had a carpet shop or worked in a carpet shop in Essex New Jersey in 1892

Note John C Crawford was living with Margaret Telford - at Oliver Avenue in 1910.
John C Crawford was a shipping clerk for a carpet shop and a cousin to Margaret Johnston Telford.

Two references to where he was buried, will leave that with you.  Might be same grave yard as Margaret Telford ??

Goodness, 2 of them, John Crawford, deaths several months apart. Neither on findagrave. George John Logan died at 191 Nepperhan Ave also 1930. George supposedly buried Oakland Cemetery.

I emailed Oakland about George Logan to see who is buried with him. Maybe his father? They close at 3 PM so I missed talking to them.
There is another John Crawford, who died in Yonkers in 1934.

Yes, I did see that entry.  John Crawford Crawford came up and many entries in Canada as well.
Not sure if that was clerical errors.  Didn't find any references in Scotland but you many have better luck

Someone sent me that obituary privately and I think it is the correct person although there were no relatives or family names given. He was born in Eyemouth which is Berwickshire. Moved to Hastings in 1907 which is probably a year out.
I wish I could provide the link.

Yes basically the same info as reply 226 - just names Eyemouth Scotland as a birth place and age variation.
So same region as the Johnstone families.
