Sandra, you continue to do a marvellous job of tracking family members and finding Obituaries or death notices for them. Thank you so very much. You have helped immensely in building the Family Tree.
I phoned Oakland Cemetery again this morning with regard to the burial of Irvine B Johnston, on January 22, 1916 and it appears he is not buried with any relatives so it is hard to prove who he is. Thinking he is John Caldwell Johnston’s brother.
When I found George Johnston, in Gorbals, Lanarkshire in 1841 and I am positive it is the same George Johnston as in Brooklyn in 1860 due to ages and names of children in the same birth order, there is a column that says he’s not from the county but it doesn’t say where he’s from, whether it be somewhere else in Scotland or Ireland.
However, I did find a marriage of a George Johnston to a Jeanie Orr in 1835 which says he is from the Parish Of Govan and Jeannie is of this parish which I think is Ardrossan because that’s what it is typed at the top of the page where the record is. That marriage date would fit perfectly with the birth of William About 1837. However I was unable to find a record for any of their children born in Scotland, which would include William, Eliza, Ellen, and Jane.
I do wonder why, in 1860, there is a Jane age 21, and a Jane age 2 so born 1858. Could she be the Jeanette who died in 1917, age 62, so born abt 1855.
