Help with Abode please Calverley Baptism 1712
« on: Tuesday 11 February 25 18:49 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can help with the abode shown on the attached baptism record please. The baptism is at Calverley St Wilfreds in West Yorkshire.

1712 4th Jan.   Ann fila of John Pearson junr.  Then there is an abode, which I am not sure about.

I am wondering if this is Pudsey and would be grateful for other eyes being cast upon it please.

(I have included a 3 or 4 adjacent baptisms on the page).
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

Free Reg have it as Pudsey
and I'd hazard a guess that this is the 'other transcript' their info came from

Meant to say Pennines,
the baptism you posted about was in vol 3 of those transcription books.
the archive also has copies of vol 2 and two copies of vol 1 if you need to go back further. they can all be downloaded as .pdfs or are readable and searchable online.

Thank you Boo.

All my maternal ancestors are from West Yorkshire, mainly Birstall and the Spen Valley - but this line had been a dead end for me. It's the first time I have hit Pudsey (the abode on the Calverley baptism) - so I am not actually sure it's the Ann Pearson who later married at Birstall Church.

Her husband was from Littletown in Birstall Parish.

But I am still really grateful for the Archives site and your information.

(By a huge coincidence - my son now lives near Pudsey!)
