The 1939 entry is correct for William I believe, but the one in Frodsham, although the age is right, the Census for 1911 (Poulton with Seacombe) shows William and his mother Hannah boarding with Phoebe and her family at 19 The grove.

Could this be John I found in 1911 with George and William,  who is definitely not your William.

Hope this doesn't put a spanner in the works.

Thank you, I've checked these out - the only problem with this is that Hannah's father is Charles Hulse (her mother is Margaret Hulse nee Davidson), and there isn't a John Hulse in her immediate family. Hannah was born in 1865 in Birkenhead, and I haven't found a link (yet) between the 2 families apart from the surname being the same and Hannah's father originating from Farndon which is just down the road from Frodsham.  Seems likely that there is a connection somewhere though, being just down the road.

The birth certificate and the 1901 census for the Hulse family in Frodsham suggest that your William is not this one.

I can see there's no obvious connection,  this leaves you the problem of finding William son of Hannah.  ???

Re: William Hulse - Born Northop 1895 - Help needed - No Birth Cert.

Indeed. Quite a mystery. All the Census and marriage / death certs say William Hulse was born in Northop (25th Nov 1895). I've spoken to Flintshire council registry office and they do not have a birth certificate for him. They do for his sisters (Margaret & Phoebe) though (which I have). I also can't find any info on Hannah Hulse  between 1881 and 1911. She doesn't appear on any census that I can find. There's a possibility of her being in Moreton, Wirral in 1891 but the birth date seems a little out. She is definitely in Seacombe in 1911 though with William.

I thought there may have been a mention of Hannah claiming maintenance for the children,  sometimes there are reports.

There's only one mention of Charles Hulse in 1878 on game offences,  probably out poaching. Fined £5.  :D
