We know he went to Japan in 1946 just after the war but would like to know a bit more about his unit or whatever he was connected to. he was a cook apparently.

Apart from his birth in 1882 do you have any other info on Albert. Appears his father died when he was 1, mother remarried but he never seems to appear with her. Any census, marriage, death.

SS

Added--above incorrect.

Yes it’s the one born 1927 , I do have his record and it tells us he was in Japan after WW2 to clean up after the bombs doing national service. My cousin lives in Japan and going to look if he can find where he was but we need to know a bit more about him.

As a Cook he would have been part of the support staff for a station/location.

What unit abbreviation does his service record say for the period?

If you are happy to do so then posting an image of the page from F543 that gives postings/movements/mustering would help.

Ross
Sea Losses of RAF Aircraft 1918 to date.

RAF Coastal Command 1939-45.

Between the Wars RAF Officers and Warrant Officers.

On the record it says unit 64PCT
91ASP

This is the time he was in Japan date of movement 16/12/46 64PCT
1/7/47 …91ASP

Hop this helps you because I am not sure what it means

Think 64 PCT is actually No.64 Personnel Transit Camp.

Also at Iwakuni edit - sorry had moved to Kure when he arrived

Thank you for your help it was very much appreciated as he died at the age of 38 of and we think it may have been because of being in Japan after the war cleaning up after the bombs
