NICHOLSON
« on: Thursday 06 February 25 05:02 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to help a friend locate Lena NICHOLSON died 1953?  She is possibly buried with or near William Donald NICHOLSON at Waverley cemetery plot W-20-CE-SL-5201.  He died 1953. FindaGrave, Billion Graves not useful but she appears in the Australian Cemeteries Index as a miscellaneous inscription with no location given.  Entries for both Lena and W D Nicholson made by the same transcriber but WDN at Waverley. Cannot locate her death at NSW BDM.  Hoping someone may be able to lay eyes on this grave please.  Regards, Jennifer

Lena was not one for the electoral roll or voting at all. :o

William Donald's death notice makes no mention of her.

The only mention I see of her is when a sister died in 1905, 5 years after her marriage to NICHOLSON
Sister of Lena died . In Mem 1905

Sue

ADDING
When her mother died in 1919, there were many newspaper  notices, but no sign of Lena

Sarah and her son Oscar died same time . Many notices from family. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/15832140?searchTerm=%22sarah%20libbesson%22~6

Hi mckha489, I had not seen that information so I will send it on to the friend who is enquiring.  Have only just started on this for her.  One extra snippet she just provided was that when the daughters were about ten her mother (Lena) was said to be dead.  Even though this is not my family I am enjoying trying to help her sort it out.  Thank you, Jennifer

Hi Sparrett, All useful info. There are some optiions I have not yet explored - such as contacting the transcriber to find out whether Lena is actually buried at Waverley or is she just mentioned on the husband's burial record. I was hoping to find an image of the grave. Did she go interstate?   Did she marry again bigamously?  I can check probate index at SRO for husband and see if there is any information in the packet.  It is interesting to break new ground.  Have been researching for decades and the "aha!" moments slow down.  Thank you, Jennifer

Thanks Cass, yes I did check out the cemetery website but not that specific link. Can have another look but think it will take me to the same dead end (not meaning to be funny). Ended up with an overhead visual of the gravesite.  Thank yiou, J.
