I think the 1862 death may be a son rather than Frederick snr.  The 1851 transcript has Jane as head of household but you would need to view the actual image to determine whether she is shown as a widow

Does the 1858 death cert for Jane show her as a widow?

Hi , yes it was Frederick the son who died at sea . They may well have had a daughter named Jane .

Was Frederick snr a mariner - can't find an 1841 entry.

Jane's death in 1858 shows her as 68 mmn Scott.  Another death in 1858 Jane Brown Strasenburgh appears to be her granddaughter.  See my reply above re death cert/1851 entry

The Census transcript for Frederick in 1841 does not show occupation. His marriage entry 1807 describes him as "seaman".

Hi All
I have found the death of Frederick Strasenburg on Scotlands people . He is registered as Frederick Stransenburg , death October 21st 1844. He was living in Johnston Street North Leith at the time of death and his occupation was a Carpenter . Age was 63 , so birth was 1781 -- was in Scotland or Germany ?

A birth in 1781 makes more sense than one in 1791 followed by a marriage in 1807 at the age of 17 years?
