Sanatorium near Hornchurch or Romford
« on: Saturday 01 February 25 13:24 GMT (UK) »
Looking for friend's grandfather on 1921 Census without success. We know he died of TB in 1925 so wondering if he might be a patient somewhere and listed by initials only.

Was there a sanatorium on the Hornchurch/Romford area at the time?

Thanks
Nottinghamshire: Billyard; Fletcher
Lincolnshire: Beck; Smith
Leicestershire: Goadby; Iliffe;
Warwickshire: Bradbury; Friswell; Gilliver; Beesley

I think he would only be listed by his initials if he was in a mental asylum but not sure

Have you seen this

The Harold Court Sanatorium, Harold Wood  was near Romford, at least between 1919 and 1937 when I can see advertisements for staff.

Modified to add:
From an article about its 1st anniversary, it was opened in 1919 for "discharged soldiers suffering from consumption"

There was Rush Green Hospital, opened as an isolation hospital, but had some beds for TB patients

Thanks all.

We found him in the end, thanks to the electoral rolls on FindMyPast. He and the rest of his household (three different surnames) are all misindexed.
