William Chamuffin b 1888.
« on: Saturday 25 January 25 15:55 GMT (UK) »
Well I'm off down a rabbit hole with this one.
I am looking for the 1891 census for William Chamuffin mmm Caroux.
In 1901 he is living with his uncle Isidore Carouse( spelling on ancestry)  the original shows Caroux.
Isidore had a number of sisters but I cannot pin one down as mother as I cannot see a marriage of Chamuffin to Caroux.
I can follow William from other records as marrying first to Dora Sarah Millard ( my line) and twice after her death.
Isidore sisters : Emma b 1860  married Goldridge
                             Celina  1863
                             Possibly Olivia 1864
                            Eugenia 1865 marries Merritt
                            Louisa 1873
                            Josephine 1877. Marries Spender.
  Am I missing someone?

 Many thanks.

Rosie that does look like it's him.
If never have picked that up.
Clearly Caroux showing as well.    I have found a further Chamuffin/ Caroux birth with Ada Selina in 1894 but she dies
The following year.
Celina / Celina could be my missing link.

William senior appears to be the son of [Thomas] James Chamuffin and Frances Inglis  They married well before William jnr was born, so not sure why he's using his mother's surname on 1891

Following the Caroux siblings, Louisa appears to be Leon(i)e Louisa [spellings vary]. She married Frederick Ward in 1897. I was following them to see if their sister appeared as a witness at all, but no such luck.

I can't find a marriage between William and Selina - he died in 1895 and I think she may have died as well, as there's a school registration for young William c1898 which states "dead" in the column for parent/guardian

Hi Mabel.

They are really odd results aren't they?  Yes the marriage was well before William snr birth so no idea why using Inglis. I did see the school record but could not see a family to connect with.
They are not on a direct line but the names are so interesting I had to go further than Dora who was my great grandad half sister.

Thanks to both Rosie and Mabel.
