Burials in the Arnside area
« on: Thursday 23 January 25 21:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi there

Just looking for some pointers to locate a burial in Westmorland - Elizabeth Dennsion WILSON née COCK, Dennison being her mother, was from Carnforth.  She married James Davies WILSON and they move up to Arnside where Elizabeth was a sub-postmistriss. I believe she died in Q3 1963 and the death was registered in Westmorland South.

Does anybody have ideas about where a burial would take place if local?

Cheers
MJW

Depends where she was living when she died.  If you Google - there is an Arnside Cemetary

Hello Martin,
I have the Cumbria Family History Society booklet on the MIs at Arnside and Beetham.  If, like me, you have lots of relatives buried there, it would be worth buying one (about £10 I think)'
Yes, they are both in Arnside cemetery - if you count from the gateway on Silverdale Road they are roughly in the middle of Row 19.  Inscription reads
In loving memory of Elizabeth Dennison Wilson died 22nd Sept. 1963 aged 87 years.  And James Davis Wilson died 7th Jan. 1970 aged 93 years.

Regards
Ian

Thanks Ian!

I think the couple are outliers (as it were!) but good to know the FHS has resources.

Cheers
