Thanks Chris, it looks like it's going to hit Ireland soon, then Scotland and the West of England before reaching those of us in the North East. Here's hoping there's no loss of life and little damage.

Roobarb - just checked Meto again and they're forecasting 70+ mph gusts again for us. Ireland and Scotland look awful :-\

Yes, very worrying isn't it Gadget? Apparently there are warning text messages being sent, hope ours don't arrive in the small hours if we get them! Not sure if they're just for the red warning areas.

These extremes of weather take some getting used to but unfortunately I think we'll have to do just that.

I'm leaving my phone off so that I'll have as much battery charge as poss. We've got all the necessary phone numbers on paper, just in case. Neither of us are very fit at the moment so .....

Take care all  :)

Thought are with all those in Ireland, Scotland, north of Uk, South West, Wales and just about anywhere in between… let’s hope the met office are being very over cautious and we don’t suffer to badly 🤞🤞🤞..
I think where I live in the East Midlands… Cambridgeshire area we’re getting off a lot lighter than other.
Do take care and be safe and will hope you can all keep in touch via RC’s so we know how you all are…
Annette - it was lovely to hear from you and how the twins are doing.. fascinating to see them grow up and how their individual characters form. I think of you when I see your name pop up on the daily Rootschat Challenge!
Hope all going ok for Gadget, Mowsehowse and anyone else in need of special thoughts.

Take care, stay safe

Stay safe all ! ...

Lovely update on the twins and development, not so good re suffering with health issues though.

Public Holiday Monday for Auckland Anniversary Day, also our wedding anniversary Monday and husband's birthday today. Several of our new neighbours have January birthdays too as did 3 of husband's family and offspring of my siblings, also another couple 2 doors away has their anniversary today and ones across road day after ours. Having a little get together at ours and intend to stay local with roads and special event drawing crowds to our beachside here for the long weekend.

I'm staying in today!
Red weather warning.
Violent storm force winds, gusting to 85mph.
All flights, ferries and buses cancelled today.
All schools closed.

Managed to go shopping yesterday; so slow cooker is on, with beef stew. Yum!

Stay safe, everyone!

It’s a wee bit wild here in Edinburgh. Schools and university are closed as are the supermarkets.
No trains, buses or planes or bin collections.

I’m so glad we had work done on the roof and chimney stacks this summer, even though it cost a king’s ransom!

The milkman still delivered the milk bless him and the birds are still on the feeders though clinging on for dear life.
A few cars on the main road outside but not many, it’s a bit eerie.

The phone warning came just before 6 pm last night. It was quite a scary feeling.

Not much rain just extremely windy and this is just the start.

Well having enjoyed an unexpected lie in I suppose I should go and get dressed incase I have to deal with something  :)

Stay safe and stay inside.

Batten down the hatches folks as the saying goes.

We have rain but no wind at the moment, the trees aren't moving.

Take care everyone
