Walter Havelock Harrison
« on: Sunday 19 January 25 17:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi all, looking on behalf of my cousin. Her father was the above man who married Doris Williams in Newport 1937. I thought the name Havelock would make searching quite easy but soon found out not so. The name Havelock seems quite common in the early 1900’s in Cardiff. Anyone got a sharper eye than me! Phil

Purchase of the marriage certificate might help  :o
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

His birth reg is easily found on freebmd in 1905???  Use GRO online for his mmn then use freebmd for parents marriage

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp

Then pre & post 1911 censuses for his FH

I can't see a 1939 entry for a Walter Havelock Harrison with a wife Doris in Wales

What is his full birthdate?

There is a Baptism record 24.5.1905 shows parents George Henry & Emma

As mentioned above - the marriage cert will confirm his fathers name

1939 entry says Havelock Walter 14 Lambert st. Elizabeth was probably Doris middle name. Valerie, daughter is also correct.

Also just spotted a birth date of March 3rd 1905 which could tie in with the christening you found and possibly a later registration as it says June quarter.

Where have you got a March birthdate from?

He died 1955 as Walter Havelock Harrison.  The 1905 birth reg I mentioned was June qtr which fits with his birthdate on the 1939 register as does the baptismal date

His mothers maiden name was King so you should be able to find the marriage on freebmd as I gave their christian names earlier.  Then you can check the various census entries
