I'd have to get my Achiltibuie notes out again (in a large trunk in the cellar!)* to answer your question. However, I did know very well the descendants of the Culnacraig McLeods and they didn't mention any kin as having gone to Chile - only USA. In faact I met two of these US McLeod families when they came over to visit.
PS - *I might have the booklet that I wrote about the Culnacraig McLeods in a more accessible place.

That makes sense as the parents did not move. The reference for Norman was given Polglass 71-54 and familysearch.org ID: LY2Q-LGQ. I didn't realize you had written a booklet about the Culnacraig McLeods.

I didn't write that, I did an unpublished one for the family in the early 2000s.
PS - just skimmed it and there seems to be a lot of unnecessary info included!

Gadget, I also scanned and it contains a lot of detail. I wasn't aware that the McLeods of Coigach came from Assynt. I thought it more likely they came from the islands, like Tanera, to the mainland.

I do recall that they came from Assynt - or at least the first church record that I found was a marriage there. One of the problems is that the available church records for the Achiltibuie area started in late 18c. That's why it's important to look for other sources.
All this from memory. I'll go look when I feel a bit better.
There is an excellent book about the MacKenzies of Strathpeffer. I can't remember the title. It's on one of my shelves!
