I've just sent a message to Don drawing his attention to this thread.  I hope he can help.

Gadget I sent him the last email address Don had for Jorge Reyes by the RootsChat PM system.  My interest is in the many McLeods.

I did extensive research on the Coigach area when I lived there 10 or so years ago. Don was a great help  The Ullapool Museum also has/had extensive material

Alasdair Fraser, who lived close to the hotel for a good while, also did masses of work in Edinburgh. He returned to Australia and I think he has sadly died. He gave me copies of some very interesting old letters.

Which branch of the Coigach Mcleods are you interested in?

At the moment. I can't locate all the info, etc. that I have.

Gadget hope you get better soon.  Coigach is a branch of the MacLeod clan but I am particularly interested in the McLeods that came by way of Atlandhu because of shared research with Robert MacLeod Coupe, now deceased, who connected those McLeods with Rosskeen and Tarbat.  I have the family tree of McLeod going to Australia, USA, and New Zealand.  He suggested it was likely my Easter Ross family links back to Atlandhu.  Because of my interest in McLeods I have researched many McLeod families, I have one from Coigach going to Vermont.  Fraser surname is also in my family.

Also claimed by Chile seems to be Norman McLeod.
Polglass 71-54  and LY2Q-LGQ
Parents Hugh McLeod and Ann McLeod (Ann's maiden surname was also McLeod)

This person Norman Mac Leod Frasser is given as having wife Annabella Frasser and that may be the case as I didn't lookup the birth certificate.  He married  Maria Moira in Chile.

When Norman Mac Leod Frasser was born on 24 January 1862, in Lochbroom, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland, United Kingdom, his father, Hugh Macleod, was 51 and his mother, Annabella Frasser, was 41. He had at least 1 son and 2 daughters with Maria Mora. He lived in Los Álamos, Arauco, Chile in 1899. In 1897, at the age of 35, his occupation is listed as minero in Los Álamos, Arauco, Chile.

Unfortunately, we have two Hugh and Ann McLeods.  Hugh McLeod died in 1856 so the other Hugh is the father of Norman McLeod.  Ann McLeod his wife seems to be the daughter of Murdoch McLeod and Margaret Munro.  Murdoch is found in Culnacraig, Coigach in the 1841 census.  I left a note on the familysearch.org site.

Gadget, do you agree with my post about Norman McLeod Frasser, who maybe isn't a Frasser at all?
