James Armstrong Blakely, born 1851 Clones
« on: Monday 13 January 25 15:42 GMT (UK) »
I came across this name in C of I baptisms in Clones. He might be related to Sarah Jane born  in 1856 in Clones. Anyone got any information? Rosemary

Could this be the same James Armstrong Blakely?

This says he was born in Ontario but as those trees are submitted worth checking to see if accurate-

A published tree has Sarah Jane Ralph, baptised 9th November 1856, Clones as Sarah Jane Blakely. - parents William and Sarah.
There is ither information re the birth which you perhaps know.
A Transcript shows James Armstrong Blakely’s mother as Sarah.

Aghadowey, I don’t think so, as I found his baptism in C of I Clones. It said born in 1847 and baptised in 1856. I will see if I can get along any further in Clones. Thanks again. We keep meeting online! Rosemary

My point is that the details on wikitree saying James was born in Ontario may not be accurate so you'd need to check to see where that one was born.

Is there any indication, on the baptism record for James, why only the mother Sarah Blakely, is named?

Possibly the same Sarah Jane Blakely marrying in 1892:

JOHN MOORE
SARAH BLAKELEY
Date of Event   28 November 1892
Group Registration ID   2175790
SR District/Reg Area   Clones

although perhaps somewhat unlikely, as la ater death notice for this John Moore would indicate he was born in 1868.

Haywood, Sarah Jane’s parents were named as Thomas Rafe and Sarah. I later found that Thomas Rafe was a recruiting officer in the 27th. Regiment of Foot stationed in Clones. When she married she gave her fathers name as William, a soldier, but she was only 16 and probably didn’t know his Christian name.
