Another help request please for Lutterworth address.
« on: Monday 13 January 25 12:28 GMT (UK) »
Just received a copy 1925 birth certificate in the post this morning and was hoping someone perhaps with local knowledge could help me please.

I am trying to find exactly where 6 Western Terrace in Lutterworth was/is?

I have tried a quick search of the internet and the nearest result is Western Drive in Claybrooke.

Just tried entering 6 Western Terrace Lutterworth into the National Library of Scotland ( a website that was used in a previous thread ) search box but it returned zero results.

Many thanks in advance Steve  ;)

That seems to be reported as both 20 Western Terrace and 20 Leicester Road.

And there's a probate record for Ernest Leopold Biddle of 26 Western Terrace, who is listed at 26 Leicester Road in the 1939 Register.

So 6 Western Terrace seems likely to be 6 Leicester Road by 1939/40.

Thankyou very much ShaunJ for taking the time to research and post your findings  ;D

Now off to Google maps/streetview to see if that still exists  ;)

Sorry to bump this old topic back up but I was wondering if anyone has access to an old street map for 1920s Lutterworth.

I have contacted Lutterworth Museum without success. My online research only shows OS maps that appear to be available.

Many thanks in anticipation, Steve  ;)

Hi Daisy,

Thankyou very much for your reply.

Yep, I posted an appeal message on there shortly after receiving the replies to my original message on here back in January 2025.

It was Memories of Lutterworth FB group that suggested I contact Lutterworth Museum. I sent an email to Lutterworth Museum ( which remains unanswered ) before sending a FB message to them.

Just to add to the evidence in support of the Leicester Road connection:

15 March 1937: Leicester Daily Mercury, has a report of a house-breaking in "Western-terrace, Leicester-road, Lutterworth". Names mentioned are Ada Weston and her son Bertram.

I've drawn a blank on map searches. There is an intriguing short terrace of older houses on the west side of Leicester Road, just before the junction with Crescent Road. These six houses are currently numbered  23-33 (odd numbers) but on the 1962 large scale map they are numbered 1-11.  Heading north, out of town, from there everything looks redeveloped or 1930s semis.
