Bradley / Duncanson - Brick Wall
« on: Wednesday 08 January 25 20:47 GMT (UK) »
I am researching the Bradley family of Retford, of which there are thousands.
Currently I am looking into my GG grand-uncle - Thomas Bradley (22 Dec 1884 - 27 Jun 1949) in East Retford, Nottinghamshire, and his wife, until divorced, Florence Jane Bradley nee Duncanson (b. abt 1882 - ?)
I would like to find anything about how Thomas Died, and also, any death date for Florence Jane and a more accurate birth date. Even better would be her parents info...
The 1911 census says she was born in South London, and I found that they married in 1907 in Retford.
I did see a Florence Bradley who was born abt. 1882 and died 1959 in Retford but I am sure somewhere I found that this Florence married a Joseph Bradley and lived in Cottam, a village near Retford. Could she have re-married? Certainly but I can't nail it down!
He was quite a bad man; always in the papers with anything from selling questionable meat to beating his wife. There was also an article about Florence Jane in 1925 and how she came to his property and smashed some windows.
They had daughters - Doris, Ivy, Lily and Violet; maybe more?
Ample info in the papers about Thomas' antics, just nothing about his death. Which is unusual around these parts.
Thomas is son of John and Sarah; I have the 1871, (possible) 1891, 1911, 1921 census. And the 1939 record where he lives with his niece (don't get me started on that)
Any help, greatly appreciated!

To find his cause of death you will have to buy a copy of his death cert.  Sounds as though he may have died of natural causes

If Thomas died 1949 - unless there was a divorce Florence could not have remarried before 1949.

As she was born 1877 she would have been 72 by 1949

There's another daugher listed on 1921 - took me a while to find a birth reg as it's distinctly messed up on Ancestry (to be fair the typescript on the image is quite thick)

Name    Mena Bradley  (actually Mona)
Q2  1916
Mother's Maiden Name    Dumeansen  (image is Duncanson)
