George Dunn Brown Hunter
« on: Wednesday 08 January 25 07:17 GMT (UK) »
In researching a Lindsay family ancestry, I have come across two people with the same unusual name (the Subject), one born in Scotland in 1868 and the other born in  Mt Kembla, Woolongong, NSW in 1890.  They may be father and son but I can't find evidence of that.

Does anyone know anything about these men and the families? ???

Wollongong Geo D B HUNTER had a sister born in 1892.

HUNTER Janet W.
38982/1892
Father  JOHN
Mother MARY A
At WOLLONGONG.

The W is a mistranscription. It is in fact M
There are 3 recorded marriages for her
1. to Robert FITZSIMMONS  14986/1919 Divorced 1925/6
2. to Ambrose JOHN 18202/1926
3. to Claude QUAYLE 27856/1941

It is not until this third marriage that her second given name appears on the NSW BMD index MEEK which as we see from Rosie's contribution was the maiden name of the mother of the Scots/QLD George D B HUNTER.

When John the father of Wollongong Geo D B HUNTER died his parent are listed as John and Agnes.

HUNTER John
6121/1931
Father JOHN
Mother AGNES
At KURRI KURRI

It looks to me that this man had named his son, born in 1891 after his brother.
