I am looking for Margaret Mulligan on the 1871 Census. She was born c.1859 in Belfast, Ireland. Her parents were William Mulligan [1830-1907] and Jane McCutcheon [1832-1903], both born in Ireland.

Margaret married Michael Grant on 5th February 1883 at St Andrew’s Church, Ancoats, Manchester. Her surname was written as Mullin and they were living at 6 Catherine Street.

I have her on the following censuses:-

[She was recorded as married even though they didn’t marry until 1883]

a widow with 4 children and son-in-law

She died in 1914 and was buried in Southern Cemetery.

I am also looking for her parents in 1871 and 1881. They appear with Margaret in Scotland on the 1861 Census and then:-

1891 England Census

Class: RG12; Piece: 3238; Folio: 37; Page: 7;

1901 England Census

There is a Margaret Mullin, 12 yrs b Westmeath living with her mother Mary and siblings in Welchs Court, Manchester
1871 4052/99/15

This is obviously not your Margaret but I see the youngest children in 1891 have mother’s name as Mullen/Mullin.

What about the older children?
