Been away for years but returning at last!

I haven't been able to research my tree for many years (15+) but I've retired now and want to carry it on.
I see some of the people who helped me so much back then are still around which I think is amazing. Over time I hope to be able to expand the tree but also help others if possible.
I have restarted my A*try subscription and see they have more resources, not to mention the upcoming 1921 Census but already I'm after some help. Back in the day I used to use a website which was searchable for BMD's in the East Riding (possibly others areas as well) which showed which church the marriages etc were conducted in. This made visits to the Beverley Archives so much easier. My problem is that I cannot remember what it was called! Hopefully it is still up and running and someone in the Rootschat community can remember the website I'm talking about.
If you do remember it please could you give me a heads up?

Welcome back. I've only just returned myself!

I can't help with your specific enquiry but you'll find that Anc* has many more records that it did 15 years ago. In many cases, you may well find that images of the actual parish register are available to you.

I have done some research in your area too.
You will also find more forums on Rootschat now .
& Huge developments in DNA research even if you don't use it yourself others with common ancestors may have found birth fathers to children born to single mother's on your trees

My tip : Give up ironing ....,more time for tree building

I find Findmypast is far better for East Yorkshire than Ancestry.

You will also find that with English / Welsh research some things have become cheaper.  Many birth and death certificates from the GRO website are available as digital copies for £3 and wills from 1858 available from the Probate Service for £1.50 both immediately downloadable.

The National Archives website also offers copies of several types of documents free of charge if you register with them, also with immediate download.

Bee has just suggested FindMyPast,  you can now be a free membership with them and just pay for any copies by micropayment.  I hope that you were able to take advantage of the ongoing half price offer for your Ancestry sub that many of us have been getting for a few years now

I've only recently discovered how to get Wills from govt.org  they are really cheap and sometimes contain a lot of information tho sometimes very little.

Recent wills are also available on line which can help in search for living relatives
