Herbert Forde 1552 of Sellindge - latin act
« on: Sunday 05 January 25 14:46 GMT (UK) »
Probably a very easy one for experienced basic latin readers

There is a name twice struck out (Alycia I think) and replaced with what looks like "defuncta"? Is that correct?

Do I guess that Alice would have benefitted from the Act but she died?

Are the other names Ricus Redge & Ricus Pole yeomen those that inherited or those who provided evidence?

Boulding Boulden Bollyng (all - mostly Kent)
Finch (Kent - Henry & Elizabeth (Fossett)  Finch m1687  London)
Foord (Kent - Aldington, Stanford area)
Philpot (Kent - Alexander Philpot died 1601 Ashford)
Waggon/Waghorn (Kent pre 1715)
Rose (Kent)

In the next line it looks like it has been replaced with Agneta, and probably in the the first instance as well.

Goldhurst - London, Middx, Herts

Thanks...  I pondered over that for a long while. I guessed someone would know immediately.

In the meantime very best wishes for 2025. I very much appreciate all the help you have given me over the past year

Neither. They are bondsmen, promising (along with Agnes, and against a penalty of 100 marks) that the estate would be administered in accordance with the law for intestacy.
