My youngest  sister is married to Daniel Moriarti (y).  His father was also Daniel, owner of 2 shops in Irvine, North Ayrshire, Scotland.   Although Scottish for several generations he has cousins in the Dingle / Kerry area and his Aunt, who is into Genealogical Research, lives in USA.  I have emailed him the link to this thread, perhaps there is a connection ... cheers, Ian

Thank you Ian for forwarding information re my Moriarty connections.  i have been trying to find out about them in  Ireland for nearly 30 years without much luck.    Only recently found mention of  an American connection through obtaining my great Grandfathers will in records in Melbourne Australia. Quite surprising.

I received a brief reply from Dan Moriarty, fuller details soon though.
"There are lots of Dan Moriarty’s in Kerry. Dingle is about 50 miles from where my grandfather’s family originate from. "
We took a Coach Holiday 10 years ago to the South West of Ireland and noticed several shops with the Moriarti name.  It's a pity Dan's father Dan has passed so I can't ask him of his memories of their Irish origins even though he was also born in Scotland.
cheers, Ian (possibly a distant cousin through marriages)

Further to Bbart's find, this might be brother Patrick in 1850, although this says b.1825
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MD9L-DPQ

Tree for the third sister found earlier - Bridget Moriarty/ Kavanagh
A census has her claiming birth - March 1822/ Ireland Marriage  c.1844
( some other censuses have 1818/20 etc.)
They've not yet claimed the sisters. or brother etc. so maybe you can fill them in.

although many Daniels as you say...here's a son of one to look into

Thank you JJ.                  This seems to confirm some of the findings of my previous searches.   Seems that Mary ,Catherine (Kate) and Bridget are possibly sisters and most likely that Patrick is their brother.     I think I can accept that their parents were Daniel Moriarty and Mary Kavanagh.   Thomas was likely their brother but he was the only member of the family who came to Australia.
Will keep on with the searching of the McConnell link.

The marriage date of 1844 for Bridget to Peter McConnell  was possibly in Ireland ????
The census 's I have seen also seem to confirm the connection between the siblings in Lawrence Mass. USA and my G Grandfather in Australia.
Once again many thanks.

Yes Bridget would have married in Ireland & the first child born there...but the 2nd sometimes says b. England?
This may likely be Patrick with the 2 single sisters Pawtucket, Bristol, Mass, U.S.

There are several Patricks so you'll have to look carefully. One has a son named Daniel so finding that marriage might help you get started.

You've had some great help on here...Good luck with your searches!

Thank you for prompt reply.    Will continue on with what you have told me.  Think that I am getting nearer to solving things.
As you mentioned quite a number of Patrick Moriartys and also Daniel Moriartys as well.  Will follow up details of Bridget 's marriage to Peter McConnell   and see where that takes me.   They seem to have went to Lawrence Essex County.    For 30  years I have thought that Thomas Moriarty lacked siblings.  But knowing the dynamics of Irish Families I realised that this would not be the case.
you have been a great help.
Thanks from Australia.

I was only helping to confirm what others on this thread have taken the time to find on your behalf. They deserve the huge thanks for their efforts. :D
Just going to point out that you need to look through all the replies carefully, as when looking through a second time, I noted the lack of response to Bbart's find of the death of Mary (VERY possibly the mother/ on the same street) with her father named!  I'd have jumped a mile! :)
