Hi Everyone and a Very Happy New Year. I am just following up on my original enquiry into the above couple I made back in October 2023
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=877349.msg7493313#msg7493313Hope this link works!
In a nutshell the above couple adopted one of their 3 children from an indigenous woman it seems! Now I am just following up on all the leads I can to hopefully find a connection.
From my original enquiry what was discovered (many thanks) was that
1) Charles H and Alice M GRAY were divorced in 1947.
2) One possible child of this marriage was a PETER FRANCIS ANDERSON 1945-2008. I have just sent a request to Ryerson to find his notice in the paper to see if anything can be found to connect him to Alice M Gray/Bullock
From what I have been told yesterday Alice and Charles knew the woman that they adopted R.GRAY from. Another brother was mentioned as well, and I think it was he who told R.Gray about the indigenous heritage! (Will collate more details on this though)
I looked through the Vic archives but I could not find anything relating to any neglected children/wards of the state etc, as this is around 1938!! Not sure what records maybe available.
I would like to find George D. ANDERSON and Alice M. GRAY actually living together if possible (electoral rolls/rate books) from c 1946 to her death in 1989/and/or his in 1991.
His death is recorded in Bendigo 1991 and Alices (as GRAY) in Long Gully in 1989.
It doesn't look like Alice and George Anderson ever married, none that I could find anyway.
It would be interesting to see their timeline as it may help.
I've looked at cemindex, find a grave this morning for Anderson's George Daniel and son Peter Francis, no luck there
Also no newspaper entry for Alices Death/funeral/memorial.
It's a difficult one this research. ANYWAY any help/direction is very much appreciated.
Kindest regards Dianna
