Hello again,
I have a marraige for a George Humphreys and Hilda M Farrington, March 1928 at Wolverhampton, and do know all about Hilda,but don't have anything on George.
You wonderful people out there, are so good at finding things, and you do it so much quicker than I can.
Just wandered if there's anything on the 1930s register?

Info from the 1939 register that can only be obtained by subscription is not allowed to be given here.   It would only give his birthdate - not his birthplace

Check if your local library has free Ancestry access - most do

Another alternative is to purchase the marriage cert as that will give his fathers name & occ

I think it is probably ok to tell you that she is recorded as married (not widowed) but he isn’t there.

Probably serving in WW2.  A tree on Ancestry has him b 1907 Shropshire but apart from a GRO entry there is nothing to support it being the right GH

The tree shows Hilda died 1998 Wrekin Shropshire.  That 1998 death was in Port Talbot Glamorgan!!

Birthdate 11.5.1906 on the death reg links to her husband being Evan

Yours was Hilda Mary Humphreys b 27.9.1906 died 1997 Shropshire

The Humphreys /Farrington marriage produced 7 Children b 1928-1942.  Last 4 births in Shropshire

It looks like he was actually born in Surrey 30th May 1892.

That would make him 14yrs older than Hilda & too old to serve in WW2 - so where was he in 1939?

No birth in Surrey in the June or September qtr 1892 for a George Humphreys.  Where have you got your info from?

George Humphries who died 1970 has birth date 30/5/1892

In 1921 in Wolverhampton there is a George Humphreys age 29y 1mo (that matches I believe) born Brighton, although his parents are born Worcestershire, and his two younger siblings were born in Wolverhampton.

A small point, but his father has the same name as the eldest son with Hilda M Humphries in the 1939 register.
