Many thanks. That makes perfect sense. He started in the 1st Londons (hence the original number) but was then transfered to the 5th Essex and then again to the 11th RF.
The medal cards would show what regt he was in when qualified so does not list the Londons if he was transferred to the Essex before leaving UK.
