Emigation to Canada 1929
« on: Sunday 22 December 24 16:17 GMT (UK) »
Greetings,to All,
I am looking for these two females who departed Scotland on the Athenia,  19 April 1929, destination  Quebec, I have seen the Passenger list, Jeanie Chalmers age 47 housewife, and her daughter Jemima Chalmers 15, last residence 45 Reid Street Bellshill Scotland.
I would be thankful for any snippet of info, on their life, in Canada after arrival, cant find them on any Census for CA.
Cheers
Lud

U.S., Index to Alien Arrivals at Canadian Atlantic and Pacific Seaports, 1904-1944

Arriving St Albans Vermont USA - Jeanie 47 and Jemima 15 years.  Surname Chalmera

Did it state where they were going, USA or Canada  ?

Hi,

Just on my way out, but I did find this.

The Canadian Incoming Passenger list on the Athenia, Jeanie is destined to her daughter Jean Wilson, 826 Robinson St. Regina, Saskatchewan. See below Page 187, it is very faded, perhaps that's why Ancestry didn't pick it up. There are 2 pages, it's a sideways swipe.

I wasn't sure about the Wilson name, it was so faded, but did confirm that the 1931 Canadian Census, at 826 Robinson St. Regina is Jean Wilson with her husband William Wilson, and 2 sons. From Family Search
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6R3M-J742

Now we have a location for Jeanie and Jemima.
