In a newspaper report of the trial after the Lewes Racecourse incident (1934), it says James Spinks was 29, which would make his year of birth about 1907. His occupation was french polisher

The Lewes Racecourse gang attack on bookie Alfie Solomon and his clerk took place in June 1936.  Jimmy Spinks was sentenced to five years and up to 30 others were also imprisoned. Since 2024 the old Lewes Racecourse site has been up for sale.
