Returning an Ancestry DNA sample

Hello I’m not sure which Royal Mail postbox a returned Ancestry DNA sample should go in. I assume it would be the one for franked mail. Could someone advise me please? Thank you.

I think any Royal Mail post box is fine, I think it has tracking details that Ancestry can see (but not you). It will be first sent to Ancestry Ireland then mass shipped to the lab in the US, hopefully it in 3-4 weeks it should show as arrived on the DNA progress tracker on the Ancestry DNA page.

I have used the local post box for both I have sent. The last one I posted was 15th November which they acknowledged as received on the 25th.  I got the results last Saturday 14th December.  The estimated date given was 27th December

It sounds as if OP lives in a place where there are two post boxes side by side,  one for franked mail and one for those with ordinary stamps on.
Or this time of year the choice is one covered in knitted snowmen and one covered in crocheted elves.

There is a preference system in place for processing.

In the UK it is or was in the Summer £10.

Once received in the US Labs the sample is fast tracked.

From posting in England to receipt of the results, for my sample took 4 weeks.

It took 2 weeks to get to the US Lab.

I did my test a few years ago before you could pay extra for fast tracking. I bought mine in a Black Friday deal, did the test as soon as I received it. From posting to getting results was 6 weeks. I bought one for OH at the same time, but gave it to him as a Christmas present. Even with the after  Christmas rush, from posting to being told his sample had failed was 5 weeks. His replacement test took about 3.5 weeks which was surprising. I wonder if they fast track replacement ones. 
Don't know why his first one failed, but he is notoriously bad at following instructions, that is if he reads them in the first place.

I did not pay for fast tracking, I think from posting on 15th November and getting results on 14th December was really good for a test from the UK.   

Mind you I was too early for getting that really cheap offer though I did get some money off
