Thank you so much again. I would appreciate a translation please as it is not clear to me who actually administered the will as it seems to me the executors all renounced executorships. Thanks again, Peter

Hi, Bearkin,

Here's my translation of the probate clause:

On the fifth day of the month of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand five hundred and eighty-five, a commission was issued to Elizabeth Latton, otherwise known as Alexander, the natural sister of Anne Latton, late of Chilton in the County of Berkshire, and to John Latton, the nearest relative of the said deceased Anne, to administer the goods, rights, and credits of the same according to the tenor of this testament, etc., in the person of Stephen Staple, a notary public, acting as their proxy, etc. They were sworn because the executors named in the same testament expressly renounced the burden of executing the said testament. Letters of administration for the goods of the said deceased, which had previously been committed on the 26th of November of a prior year to Anne Halliwell, were renounced this day, as appears from the records.

line 6: al(i)bi xxvjo Novemb(ris) ult(erio) elapso ...

My suggestion:

... [had been granted] elsewhere (alibi) on the 26 November last past [i.e. 26 Nov 1584].

Also, isto die usually means 'that day', as opposed to hoc die 'this day'. So I would infer that Ann Halliwell had renounced the administration on the same day it was granted (26 Nov 1584), hence the reference to the entry already having been made in the Act Book.
