Sussex village name

Hi All,
I'm hoping some kind person can help me with a village name. In the Ancestry 1851 census
Eli Barber is born at ......ling? The ancestry say Mandling however I can't find a place called Mandling.
As Eli doesn't appear in any other record (census, birth or death) I'm stuck.
Any help much appreciated.

West Hampnett Sussex includes a hamlet of MAUNDLING (Or Maudlin), half a mile east of the village?

Yes I'd agree with Maudlin.

They certainly moved around albeit in a relatively small area - living in tents and caravans explains it, hadn't noticed that.

Thank you for the replies. :D It certainly fits in with the Barber's movements. The map link was very helpful & not a great distance from town to town that they travelled.When your in a different country it's hard to get your head around the different places.
