Bursey in Old Pelican Newfoundland
« on: Monday 16 December 24 16:14 GMT (UK) »
Real longshot, I have a DNA connection with this area going way back to when the area was first being settled by English fishermen. I believe the connection was via John Bursey or one of his descendants from Poole or Christchurch or Southampton in England. John died around 1770 in Ibsley in Hampshire England. I do believe the name Bursey may provoke some memories. Interested to hear any thoughts anyone may have ::)

I wonder if perhaps you might be looking at Old Perlican?

This link will give you some Burseys in Old Perlican. Note as you look through that there is an occasional note connected to a Bussey that indicates an s has been overwritten with an r to indicate Bursey.

Link to other records for Newfoundland for you to explore….

Added: if you have access, there are some Bursey records on ancestry as well.
