Marriage or death for Jane Lambert (1807-) Colne
« on: Thursday 12 December 24 11:30 GMT (UK) »
Dear all,
I'm trying to find marriage and death records for Jane Lambert, b. 1807 in Colne to John and Ann Hargreaves. She came from a numerous family and was sister to William (1800-1860), Joseph (1802-1868), Mary (1805-1881), Hannah (1810-1861), Sarah (1813-?), John (1816-1894), Henry (1821-1874) and Ann (1821-?). I don't think that the marriage to James Hindle in 1831 is her; this Jane seems to have remarried to Joseph Blackburn and then appears in censuses as b.1810, which matches an 1810 Colne baptism of a daughter of 'John and Margaret'.
Thanks all,
FG

Can't do a detailed search just now but did notice a Wedding Announcement in the Leeds Times dated 19 October 1844:

On Tuesday, by license, at the parish church, Bradford, Mr Jonas Illingworth, of Bradford, to Miss Jane Lambert, of Colne.

Might be one to eliminate ... ?

I think that you are probably right about the Hindle & Blackburn marriages as the 1851 for that Ann has a son John and daughter Margaret probably named after her parents.

The Bishops Transcripts have Jenny Lambert although the parish register has Jane.

Whilst not specifically relevant to this query, there are a number of Lamberts from Colne in Hyde Cheshire is the 1850s and 1860s. They are not mine, but just crop up each time I seach for my lot from Stockport and earlier Northwich.
