Isobill Langskeall

Hi All
I'm trying to find out information on my 6G Grandmother Isobill Langskeall B:bef 24 Aug 1691 Holm and Paplay, Orkney, Scotland. She married Patrick Allan b1692. I think her parents were James Langskeall and Isobill Coupland b1672, but I'm not able to confirm this. Would anyone have any information that is verifiable? I have found 3 other possible spouses, but also am not sure if it is the same Isobill Langskeall.

SP show her baptism on 8 August 1691 in Holm and Paplay and gives  the names that you give  for her parents.

I've not found details of a marriage for them in Orkney records but the % of marriages recorded at this time is very low. I have a figure of 30% in my mind.

Thanks for that. I did manage to find a baptism for 24 August 1691 at Holm and Paplay (990501) would that be the one you found? Also I'm looking for information on her parents, now that they are confirmed, please.

I found the information on the  Scotlands People  site*. It is the main site for accessing Scottish BMDs. The H&P parish  record was clear for that time.
I also had a quick look for the parents' names but nothing jumped out.
You've not said where you've searched for information.

I think you should be looking at the SP site for  information, including their  Kirk sessions records.

The nearest  that I can find for a baptism in Orkney for James is

St Andrews,  11 April 1666:
James Langsaill, parents - Andrew Langsaill and Margaret Spence

and one that seems a bit late:

Holm and Pappay  30 Sept 1679
James Langskeall, parents David Langskeall and Margaret Garioch

I've just found the record for Isobell's bptism that you mentioned  under no gender  (my stupid mistake !)

What is the name of your definitely confirmed  ancestor who descends from Issobill? Have you got birth/baptism details.
