William Reid, Occupation?
« on: Tuesday 10 December 24 17:10 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to determine the occupation of William Reid in this attachment from the Scotlands People website.  Can anyone help?  Hopefully I've attached the section of the page  :)

Many thanks

I don't have an answer but do have a couple of observations which might help.

In the second last line we have ...She was... and in the last line ...Son James....

Based on these letters it appears the occupation begins with J (or possibly I).

It may end in _weller or _woller.

Is Indweller a possibility in Scotland?

An indweller is just a resident who dwells in a place. Here is the link to the DSL.

Thank you for your suggestions. I was expecting it to be an occupation, as the other names on the page are followed by their occupation eg cooper, farmer, labourer etc.
I am trying to establish whether this William Reid (father of Agnes) is the same William Reid who is the father of William (bap 1773) and Thomas (bap 1770). His occupation in both cases is given as brewer.
Thank you again

There is another word after "Indweller & ..... in" but I can't decipher it. Sorry.

Bill

Thank you Bill for taking a look.
Yes, unfortunately, it's difficult to decipher it with all the crossing out.  :(

Thanks again
