William Hart of Kew, Surrey
« on: Sunday 08 December 24 12:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi there! I'm currently researching an ancestor of mine, William Hart, who was born in Kew Surrey around 1845. He married in Dublin, in 1876 to Charlotte Wilkinson, stating his father was a Carpenter and was called William. Yet I cannot find any birth record or very many early records of his, making it extremely difficult to go back further on his line.
I've found a thread of this forum back in 2010 about him but was inconclusive, and I wanted to take another stab at it. My second name is Hart, and it would mean a lot to go back even further of my line.
Could anyone help me track down more information about his parents, or any more military records of his time in the 4th Dragoon Guard?
Thanks!

Hello,
Forgive me but I haven't actually found this document! May you send a link as I'm finding it a little difficult to find this? Definitely possible, but maybe just a little early. I'll for sure have a look though, Thank You

Both the GRO website (General Register Office) and freebmd are free to search on their indexes for births, marriages and deaths.  You need to register for the GRO.  You can order certificates in a selection of formats from the GRO but some register copies are available as digital images for £3 but not marriages.

I suspect that the father of that birth registration I quoted is not William but George as there is another registration for a sister Mary Ann in 1845 and a possibility for that family can be found in the area in 1851.

People at those times were often wrong with their ages on documents and often gave false details for fathers when they married. It is always a good idea to allow some slack but I do think further investigation is needed to try and locate your William without buying the certificate I mentioned in my other post.

Possible baptism for his father in Kew, 4 April 1819: William Hart son of John and Mary Hart.

In the 1851 census in Kew, John and Mary Hart have a grandson William Hart aged 10 (I wonder if that was a mistranscribed 6).

If it's any use the Ellen Hart in 1851 census could be , birth registration June qtr 1839 Richmond.
Mmn Tilbury.

29 Jan 1816 John Hart married Mary Tilbury at St George,  Hanover Square,  Westminster.

There could have been many more children. Including William Hart b 1819 that Shaun J found.

All records after seem to have John Hart as a gardener,  perhaps he worked in Kew.

Hi Kai, I have just found this, I have sent you a pm about the Greenwoods and still looking through my folders , I don't think I got any further back than you. As for the Harts William was my great grandfather, Charlotte and Williams daughter Annie was my grandmother, your 2x grandfather Robert Hart was Annies brother, Annie died 20th July 1932 the day after my mother Joyces 13th birthday. Robert and Emma and later Lydia seem to have taken Joyce and her younger sister Nancy , under their wing, I have lots of photos of mum and Nancy with Robert and Emma/ Lydia . I remember mum speaking of them with affection. I remember Lydia when she came back to York. I'm not sure if I have mastered the attachments system  on here but  but I will try and post some later. take care, Nikitah.
