You can also find him in the Sydney Sands Directory:
https://archives.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/nodes/view/495003

eg in 1925 at Scott St, Bankstown
https://archives.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/nodes/view/1899473
(scroll down to page 12 /61. Page 209 on the Directory)

I notice some of his children were born in Glebe- here he is in 1905 on Franklyn St, Glebe

There is also a Cadet Record for his son Alexander McHARG (born 31 Aug 1905) who signed up 1918. His father is noted as Alexander McHARG, carter, of 11 Hegarty St, Glebe; then "Belmont" Scott St, Bankstown.

(you can see the digital copy by clicking on the link at the top right hand corner)

Modified to add:
Sorry, the link doesn't take you to the record. If you type Alexander McHarg into the "name search" you can find the record.

Also of interest, sounds like Alexander McHARG built his house at Scott St, Bankstown - advertising for a builder in Nov 1919 (plans available at 11 Hegarty St, Glebe):
