I am trying to discover who Joseph R Nall, was please and if his middle name Russel was a family surname?

The two Turners were Father and Son.

Joseph Turner baptised South Kirkby, Yorkshire 1780, his Father was Thomas Turner [and his Mother, Maiden name Elizabeth Johnson]

Just found 1861 since Comberton's reply and birth place was written as Staffs Snenton.

Joseph R Nall, Head, Mar, 32, Railway Clerk, Nr Snenton Staffs.
Martha Nall, Wife, Mar, 34, Born Cleckheaton, Yorkshire.

Snenton quite a close spelling to Sneinton!

Previously in 1851 a Railway Porter.

I wondered where did you find the reference to Joseph Russel Nall, bapt 1828, please?

Hearing Russell mentioned and seeing Sykes in the Census is highly interesting!

Three other children of Thomas & Hannah Nall, seem to be baptised Nottingham St Mary:-
