Ha ha!

I must say, it is a magnificent flat cap.  I wonder why he was allowed to wear it for the full facial, but not for the profile.

Maybe it explains why I have a penchant for flat caps!

In November, I discovered that one of the artefacts held in the "Prisons and Police Museum" in Ripon is "Photograph Book No. 8", from the Scarborough Police, documenting criminals from Scarborough in the 1920's.

I had known about his 1921 conviction for theft since long ago, and about 10 years ago, contacted the North Yorkshire Police to ask if there might be a mug-shot of him.  Their reply was a masterpiece of non-information!  So when I discovered about this book in the museum, I was really excited ... but the museum was closed through the winter months, so I had to be patient until they reopened!
