1920 Census - Relation Partner?
« on: Thursday 14 November 24 21:18 GMT (UK) »
Hello :)

I've come across the 1920 census for Alice D Moralee, a 70 year old widow living at 6007 Woodlawn Ave. Listed within the household is a lodger and Constance Edwards, a 34 book keeper, who is listed as 'partner'. I've not come across this before?

Could anyone shed any light?

You can see the 1920 census instructions for enumerators here.  https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/decennial-census/technical-documentation/questionnaires/1920/1920-instructions.html

It says "If two or more persons share a common abode as partners, write head for one and partners for the other or others."

I think it might be a roommate situation.
